transmission swap
Just bought a 1965 chevy fleetside with a 283/ PG and am wondering how hard would it be to swap a turbo 350 for the PG? I want to use the truck to haul my old corvettes with and I know the PG is not heavy duty enough for the tow. Any ideas?.................Joe

Re: transmission swap
Should be a pretty much straight forward swap. Move the crossmember back accordingly and shorten the driveshaft. You might have to extend the trans cooler lines.....everything else should work on the th350.

Sounds like a good plan...I have a number of factory 2-speed Powerglide trannys in my 4-5-6 Chevy trucks and they are limited in the towing category. Let us know how the swap works out and you can probably get a decent price for the factory Powerglide in the Parts For Sale forum. |
