power steering box compatibility - will a '73-up work
Converting from manual to pwr ---- i have been comparing the steering boxes between my '69 and '75 to get an idea (not parting out the '75, just eyeballing it)
The local resto. house asks 300 bucks exchange for a '68-'72 specific pwr steering pump, while the later stuff can be had at any auto parts store it seems

I put one from an '86 on my wife's '68. Get the lines from the donor vehicle. Then, I used a 1/2" compression union to mate the newer high pressure line to the older p.s. pump.

About 15 yrs ago I converted my 68 GMC 250. I used a gear box from a late 70's or early 80's. I looked high and low for a 6 cylinder pump and mounting brackets, though.

I heard you can go up to 76 without issues (hose fittings). I put a 76 on my 67 and the variable ratio is nice.

I put a PS unit in my '67 from a '85 pickup with no issues whatsoever.

Re: power steering box compatibility - will a '73-up work
If you use a newer box and have issues with the hoses, there is a simple solution. The earlier boxes and pumps used flare fittings on the lines. The later ones used o-ring fittings.
If you run into a mismatch by running different year stuff, you can simply replace the 1 inch fitting in the back of your pump to match the box and hoses. Just screw a later model one into your early pump and you're now matching.
