WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
I have got a 66' swb stepside I am building and I am wanting to put 22x10 wheels in the rear. Not really wanting to I already have the wheels so they are going under. I have heard anyhting from tubbing the rearend to putting a wider fender on the rear. I am open to the wider fender but not the tubs cause I really like the wood bed and do not want to mess that up. So any help would be great.. Thanks

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
Not sure about everyone else, but I would need to know the backspace measurement of the wheels and the width of your rear end (is it stock width, or has it been narrowed), if the truck is lowered and by how much, and what size tires you plan on mounting. This is assuming that there are no issues with the bolt pattern.

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
.you mentioned not wanting to 'tub' the rear, but you could use the rear wheel tubs from a fleetside and trim then to the size you want.I don't suggest "spacers" to unpredictable.

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
I am in the process of ordering the wheels. The rear end is a stock 12 bolt rearend. It will have air ride suspension so the drop will be probably as low as I can without having to raise the bed or hump the mid floor up. I am wanting the bed to look as original as possible. As far as bolt pattern a have switched out to a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. The tires I am wanting something in a 40 series tire width I am not so sure of. Thanks

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
Ya they might be a tight fit especially if you dont want to tub the bed even just a couple of inches to make room for the wheels. Just depends on the backspace combination for it to work ok. Mine are 20x8 they fit just fine

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
Well I have seen a Fender kit @ brotherstrucks for rear fenders that are 3" inches wider than stock . Figured that would be the route to go.Easier and no modifications. The story is I bought my front wheels off of Ebay new 22x8.5 Billet Specialties in the box for 500.00 for both. Now that Billet Specialties no longer makes that style. I am lucky enough that they have enough stock to make on last pair 22x10. So I am hurrying up to get my truck ready to get those wheels.

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
Don't forget the sway of the truck as well. If the tires are a close/tight fit in the rear, the tires may rub the inside of the fenders when you go around curves. That's what happened with my truck. Little cut marks on some areas. So I used a little persuasion with the rubber hammer with the inner lip.
Like the guys said backspacing is important as well. The Fender kit @ brotherstrucks are cool too. Can't wait to see ya truck Bud!!!! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=315664

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
If I tub it that would get more tire underneath right. If I use the wider fenders that would only push my tires outward. That is what I am thinking about doin is the mini tub prolly around 3 inches. Does anybody know what Offset it may be with using a 22x10 wheel. Thanks

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
When you go 5 lug like most of us, that's 5x5 not 5x4.5. What front's will you get 5x4.5 from to fit on the control arms, or what control arms will you be switching to to match whatever spindle you go w/ for 5x4.5

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
The front suspension is from Scotts Hot rods in CA. it is a air IFS suspension. And when I bought the wheels off of Ebay the guy was planning to use them on his 72 SWB, so I figured that the bolt pattern would work. When I ordered the front 14" Wilwood disc brakes to fit they said no problem. When I ordered the rear exles form Moser Engineering they asked 6 lug or 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I Figured 5x4.5 was the new bolt pattern. I always thought 5x4.75 bolt pattern was Ford and Dodge.

502 I ordered new axles from Moser engineering and am going to use 12' Wilwood disc brakes. I always thought Ford and Dodge ran the 5x4.75 bolt pattern. I thought Chevy went 6 lug , 5x5, and 5x4.5. I may be wrong.

I don't claim to know all of the bolt patterns but I do know that the Chevrolet light duty trucks are 5X5 and the passenger cars are 5X4.75 5X4.5 is passenger car Ford, 5X4.75 is Chevrolet light passenger car 5x5 is Chevrolet light truck large passenger car and some Ford 9".

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
502 I did a little research today. You are correct and so am I where I was getting my info was that Chevy S-10 were 5x4.5 bolt pattern everything else was 6 lug, 5x5, and 5x4.75. is what I learned.Because when I was a little boy I had a S-10 Blazer and I had this same trouble when it came to wheels.

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
The S10 stuff is a whole nether deal and does not work with these trucks. So the wheels you bought are they 5X4.5, 5X5 or 5X4.75? If they are the 5X4.5 they will not work with the after market or OEM conversions. There is a possibility of the 5X4.75 working. I am working on that for myself.

Re: WHat will I have to do to get these wheels to fit?
You shouldn't have to do anything to the frame...I've had 15x15 wheels on the back of my truck with no frame modification (correct backspacing is obviously important). The only thing is I did not have the rear wheel wells in. I am currently running 16x12s with a 31-inch tall tire. The only thing this time around is I widened the wheel wells in the bed. For the fronts, depending on how low you want to go and how tall the tire is, you may have to build a tub on top of the inner fender structure to allow the tire to tuck up (or cut out a section). I have a 26-inch tall tire up front and the front cross member rests on the ground just before the inner fender rests on top of the tire. If my front tire was 27-inches tall, the inner fender would probably rest on top of the tire before the cross member touched the ground. I hope that helps.
