Need Cheap and easy Drop. Please Help!
I was hoping some of you could give me some advice. I have just started my 72 c/10 project and while I have the bed and front all off the frame i want to drop it as much as possible without using Airbags. What are my options and can it be done with a few hundred dollars as my project is on a tight budget. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You can get a 3/5 drop with some drop springs, adjustable panhard bar, & a bolt in notch
And if it were me I would spend a lil more money & get 2-1/2" drop spindles & drop springs in the front, instead of just springs |

Since it's a 72 & already has disc brakes, get some drop spindles & cut 1-coil off the stock springs. Cutting 1-coil is free so which helps off-set the spindles expense & won't kill the ride.
For the rear, get dropped springs & an adj. panhard bar. To keep it budget friendly, modify the stock shock brackets & build your own lowering blocks (see the lowering block info in the FAQ section).

The only problem with running lowering blocks, is that you have to get longer U-bolts

That is all good advice. I would recommend using drop spindles up front and either buying 1" lowering springs or cutting 1 coil off. For the rear, just use drop springs. You will not need to put in a notch until you get to a 6" drop.

Quote:
The benefits of running lowering blocks is that you get drop w/o affecting the rear shock travel (the rear housing is raised while the shock mounts remain fixed) & they don't impact ride quality. Another problem w/lowering blocks is the scrub-line gets closer to the ground. 1.5" blocks is the max you should use w/15" wheels. With 2" blocks, if the tire goes flat, the lower shock mount will hit the ground. Larger diameter wheels can help here.
