I need a blazer tank fill hose,...

Is this an auto parts item or can I get it from a board vendor?

I'm getting ready to install a new tank in my blazer and all the rubber hoses appear to be original. I need the big "fill" hose and all the smaller ones.
Any help would be great.

Its a very odd size. You can go to a boat dealer or a hydraulic hose place to find it.... Usually, lol. I think it has a inner diameter of 1 1/8".

I had my local parts store just cut down a long high quality fuel hose. I had my old stuff for measuring... under 6 bucks, had it instantly.

Here's a good pic of the fuel tank raplacement hose

from the tank replacement post in the FAQ

I have bought this hose from a local rubber hose supply house for about $12 a foot. My local auto parts stores couldn't get that size and the hose I got from one of the board vendors was actually the wrong inside diameter.

It is a 1 3/8" diameter...hard to locate sometimes. Try West Marine, or any other boating supply store. It is NOT cheap. About $12-$15 a foot. www.truckandcarshop also sells it. I believe they have it by the foot, or in 6 foot sections as well.

I think I got mine from a heavy equipment supply store. It was a couple of years ago. I do remember it not being cheap.

Re: I need a blazer tank fill hose,...

OK guys,... NEW PROBLEM. I unboxed my new gas tank from ECE. The metal neck on the new (steel) replacement tanks come off the tank with a straight piece of 1-3/8" pipe. (angle slighly upward)
After looking at my original blazer tank (still installed) ,... it's different. It has a metal tank neck with several bends in it to "snake" around the rear body mount.
It appears that the ECE tank neck will run directly into the body mount.

Now what do I do?
It appears to be a blazer only problem. It doesn't matter when you put one of these tanks in a pickup.
Has anyone here run into this before?

Re: I need a blazer tank fill hose,...

I am getting ready to do my tank. Since the hose is going to have a bend in it. it needs to have the metal in the hose to keep it from colasping. My local auto parts stores Napa etc. I live in Northern Va./DC. I tried dozens of the stores. Some had gas hose that would fit but not with metal. I got my hose off the web. It wasn't cheap.

Does anyone have a picture of a new replacement tank installed in a blazer? I need a shot of the hose and the left rear body mount.

Re: I need a blazer tank fill hose,...

You can always cut the neck off your stock tank and use a couple clamps with a piece of hose.

I wish I was more of a help. It's been a couple years since I put my tank in. I remember having the same problem but I was able to get the hose around the body mount. Will see if I have a pic.

Its not a big deal, I did it to my tank. Make sure you or whoever solders on the neck uses a good solder paste to tin the tank. I know some have used hose but it is tight in there and I wanted it done right.

Re: I need a blazer tank fill hose,...

Here is the only pic I could find.

I know my hose is right on the body mount and I check it every now and then for cuts or rubbing through but nothing has happened yet. It took some work to get it in.

Re: I need a blazer tank fill hose,...

Like Big J said, cut off your old fuel neck and use it on the new one. I had mine cut off and soldered onto the new tank and what do you know - it was hitting the body mount. So I grabbed the hack saw and cut off the freshly soldered on old fuel neck and got some rubber hose to mate the old to the new.

Here are a couple pics to show how I used the old tank's filler neck. About a 4" piece of hose goes from the new tanks existing filler neck and attaches to the bent piece that I cut off my old tank, then it connects to the long piece that will go up the side of the Blazer.

I would rather have not had to use the extra rubber hose to splice this together but I have no worries that it will last a long time.

I also invested in the wire re-enforced hose, not kinks, less fuel restiction, particularly with the after market tanks. the hose will not collapse or kink

I know exactly what you are going through. I had a hard time finding the right diameter to fit the tank. There is a chevy parts pplace in Oklahoma City http://www.chevy-classic-parts.com/ they have exactly what you need.
