Trans questions
Hey guys, I have a few questions about parts interchangeability (< big word )
I have a Nv-3500 5-speed & I need to know if my old 3-OTT clutch, pressure plate, disc & stuff will work with the 5-speed (are the input shaft splines the same) Also I am missing the throwout fork & the hydraulic clutch stuff, but I have a NV-4500 with the fork & hydraulics will they work on the 3500 ??? Thanks in advance, Matt |

Re: Trans questions
i dont know to much about transmisions, but my family does own a junk yark and i rip apart vehicles when a customer needs something and the shop guys are to busy with other stuff to get to it, i recently pulled an nv-3500 out for a customer and i could be wrong but the spline looked different then the spline on my sm465 or my sm420
i would say the best bet with the clutch would be to test fit the clutch on the spline, and i would give a local junkyard a call and ask about the throwout question, they should be able to answer the question for you let me know if you have trouble finding the answers i can talk to one of the shop guys who probly would know, but that wouldnt be till about thursday or friday nate good luck geting the info you need

Re: Trans questions
Well I tested my clutch disc on the the input shaft & it fit just fine, so that should work
Now I just need to know if the throwout arm will work, cuz I think the hydraulic master & slave cylinders will work (just made a quick look under the truck & they look the same) Hope it all works, cuz I'm short on cash & need to get the trans bolted to the engine fairly soon so I can stick em back in |

Re: Trans questions
Spray-Bomb. I put a NV3500 behind my 327 and used all of my old clutch set up. I had a newer clutch for a small block laying around that I tried first but it had clearance issues with the bellhousing. I had put it all together and gave it a turn over with the starter and a spare battery and it sounded like I was chewing up the flywheel but it just turned out to be the clutch housing rubbing on the bell housing of the transmition. I took it out and messured bolth the newer and old clutch, the old one was a smaller circumferance so I used it and have had no problems. So even if it fits on the shaft make sure it clears the bellhouseing through a full rotation. I hopes this helps some.
I can't tell you much on the throwout fork & the hydraulic clutch interchangeability.
