Gas Tank Sending Unit

I give.....

How does the sending unit come out of our gas tanks????

usually there is a locking ring around the edge. I don't see one on yours from that pic though... You would use a hamer and screwdriver to rotate the ring to unlock...

Is there a tab which needs to be bent down? There looks to be one but before I started banging away I thought I'd ask.

the tab there needs to be hit with a hammer and a screwdriver as msgross said. it should just turn to the left and will become loose when the tabs line up then the unit will slide out

It was nasty.... and these little buggers are expensive! $100 + at Napa or Advanced Auto parts....
