View Picture: was it changed over to V8 from 6 cylinder?

66 truck purchased without engine. The truck was built with a six cylinder from the factory. How do I know its still configured for a six or changed over to a V8? Can someone tell me from my photo? I can take additional photos as required.

thank you,
steve

The motor mounts are for a V8. The 6's had extenstions to reach the perches. If you are going to put a automatic in that truck you will be losing the rear crossemeber in the picture. Those mounts are not needed but you will have to get a automatic crossmember for the tranny.

Ok, got it. One final question........after I remove my crossmember I will have to install a new one as I plan on using a 350 automatic transmission. Will the crossmember from the donor transmission vehicle work or do I have to find a 60-66 chevy specific crossmember?

You can use one that fits under the tail of the trans from a 67-72 truck - you may have to drill holes to bolt it to the frame rails (there are some original 66 versions out there, but more pricey)

Mine came out of a 67 automatic truck. I believe you can use them out of the 73 and up also, but will have to probably redrill. GM didn't change to many things over the years.
