73 up motor mount location on '70 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I read the FAQ section on the mods required for the '73 up mounts on the '67-'72 frame but I was wondering if it locates the engine in the stock location forward/back as stock. I guess what I mean is if I were to do this would my engine drop back in and connect to the bellhousing of the trans like stock?

I have this same question, I want to upgrade to the later style mount, but want to keep the engine in the stock location.

now that I've started this project I can see that it moves the motor back about 1.5". I'm going to mach it up and see where to drill new holes

Im really interested in this too, I want the newer mounts but want too see how it turns out.

I used the 73 and later bb mounts on my 68. I put the motor and tranny in together and had the stands bolted to the motor so it would sit in the frame, then i could see where the tranny mount bolts were (due the the greese build up) then i knew the motor was in the right place. drilled new holes in the frame and bolted the stands down

I put the motor and tranny in together and had the stands bolted to the motor so it would sit in the frame, then i could see where the tranny mount bolts were (due the the greese build up) then i knew the motor was in the right place. drilled new holes in the frame and bolted the stands down
