67 Fleetside compared to 69 Step??
Is there a difference from a 67 SWB Fleetside and a 69 SWB Stepper??
Will the 67 Body drop right on a 69 frame or does it take mods?? |

Re: 67 Fleetside compared to 69 Step??
a 67 frame does not have the dimple for the PS gear box, and a 67 has smaller holes on the core support mounting brackets. So the mounting kits/rubber mounts are different on 67 (and maybe 68, not sure). So keep that in mind when ordering them. This frame is a 69.

Re: 67 Fleetside compared to 69 Step??
We put a '67 front clip and cab on a '69 frame without a problem.
There are a few minor differences in the frames, but nothing that causes a problem. Danny

Frames are NOT the same. The 67 frame has a dimple. But yes, as far as I remember the 67 will swap onto the 69.

Re: 67 Fleetside compared to 69 Step??
Yup,67/68 core support bushings are different. That sounds like a good plan. That "domple" mentiond that isn`t in`67 frames is to fit the power steering box which`67s didn`t use. They used a manual box and an early design ram-type power steering. There are remedies to enable use of new design p/s boxes. But,with your plan it`s taken care of.I am building a`67 on a`71 frame,so I got disc brakes out of the deal.

Re: 67 Fleetside compared to 69 Step??
There's one more difference...the frame rails near the motor mounts are wider on a 67 by about an inch. If you have headers of certain types [like Hedman shorties], you might have to cut the frame a bit for them to fit without rubbing.

Re: 67 Fleetside compared to 69 Step??
If building from the ground up, you are better off with a 71 or 72 frame. The steel is stronger in addition to all the stuff listed above.
