Does anyone have a diagram of the fuel system in the 67-72 trucks. Having probs with fuel going to carb, have new fuel pump and fuel line to carb.
Thanks |

Here are some ideas of things to check.
1.Check rubber lines on fuel pump and from tank to hard line.(if they are cracked it could be sucking air) 2.Filter sock over pick-up tube in tank. You have to pull sending unit. 3.Hard lines cracked or crushed. 4.Possibly a bad fuel pump from the parts store.(I have seen it happen before) 5.Sintered metal fuel filter in carb. 6.Prime motor well.(I have had it take several times to prime a new pump) 7.Use a gas can and short hose to see if pump is pulling fuel and pushing it to carb. I don't have a diagram but these are some things I have had cause the type of problem you describe. ------------------ Deland does Chevys 68Chevy panel(LIZ) "A man and his truck,it's a beautiful thing" "I have the body of a god, unfortunately it's Budda"

test the fuel pump ...
und the hose/line to the carb... put it in a bucket or gas can... crank the motor, see if the pump is working... if the pump works, try running it with the gas cap off... sometimes the vent(return) line back to the gas tank get's stopped up... if it's stopped up it'll make a "vaccum" in the fuel system...(no air getting to the tank)... ------------------ beat it to fit, paint it to match... http://www.geocities.com/maggotspawn/gearhead.html

Thought I had a fuel delivery problem once. Changed filters, rubber lines, and fuel pump and none helped. The pickup would run fine unless under full acceleration. This problem continued for about 3 tank fulls of gas. Finally found that I had gotten some bad gas that had water in it. Dumped the tank and used Heet for a few tank fulls. Fixed the problem.

What kinds of problems? Are you just not getting your truck to start? Is it running rough? Hesitates? What's the symptoms?

Have you had it running before you replaced the fuel pump and line? I had a 69 one ton that had set so long the gas had gummed up the pick up line in the tank.

Thanks for all the replies I appreciate it.
Ran a secondary fuel line into a can of gas, and truck started and ran fine. Have traced the problem to rubber hoses at fuel pick up tube connector at main line ( that runs down side of truck)...and gummy...
