Question

I know this is probably a dumb question but I don't know the answer, so here goes.

What does the "wide" mean in respect to truck beds? I understand when someone says a short bed, but not a "short/wide" bed? I thought all the beds where the same width.

Thanks.

Re: Question

Fleetside beds are wider than stepside beds, so that's probably what "wide" refers to.

So Short/wide = Short wheel base (SWB) Fleetside

Re: Question

There is always confusion on this subject.

For GMC's they are called wide sides and fender sides

For Chevy they are called fleetsides and step sides

There are no wide step or fender sides...
