Re: Front ds vibration
Slip joint would be where I'd look first, then front u-joints, then...everything else.

Re: Front ds vibration
i had a similar problem then i grenaded the right front axle and repleced it with another one and presto! no more vibration. not sure the reason behine the grenading axle but it could've been a bad u-joint since the new axle has a new u-joint in it

Re: Front ds vibration
thanks for the replies! I've noticed no vibration at slower speeds, then around 50 it starts to pick up... I'm starting to wonder if the DS is out of balance. I picked it up from a junkyard when I did my T-221 to NP205 conversion...

Re: Front ds vibration
In that mode your wheel are turning you shafts freely,as in unengaged to the t-case.Wteh it in 4wd it`s enough to put tension on the worn joint. So,it would be either in the axle "u"s or driveshaft.Put t-case in neutral and unlock hubs to check for play in joints. You`ll be able to turn everything into whatever position.Once in position you can hold one side of the joint or lock the hubs.Stick a big screwdriver through the joint and check for slop. You should notice slop by losking hubs, grabbing the d-shaft and twisting back and forth, too.
