Front & Rear Window Intall - ??????
I'm a first-timer learning as I go
Sorry, but the more I “search" and “google”, the more confused I get about a procedure that is often described as “easy” I’ll be replacing rubber seals front & back… starting with the back, which is a sliding window type btw. Do I put the rubber seal on the window first then install to the cab edge? Or, install the rubber seal on the cab edge first and then slide the glass in? Another question is were to use window sealer? Do you run a bead of sealer inside the seal groove where the glass fits in? Or, to the groove that fits onto the cab edge? I know to apply sealer to the top edges after it’s installed (front) but am obviously confused about everything else. Also I could find the 3M Weather Strip Adheisive”, but I did buy Permatex “Auto Glass Sealer” – I’m OK with at? I have my box knife in hand and am heading outside to cut the back window out… As always ANY help, tips advice all aspects of these installs you guys give me is appreciated... and needed __________________

Re: Front & Rear Window Intall - ??????
There is a FAQ about this on this board, check there. In general, the glass goes in the rubber first, if you have the stainless trim in the rubber, install that first too. You may need masking tape to hold it all together. Put the square corners in first, bottom edge of rear glass first, top edge to front glass first. No sealer needed unless you find a leak later.
The FAQ tells how to use a rope to pull the rubber in and how to lube it up etc..

Re: Front & Rear Window Intall - ??????
i just had windows installed in my truck on Thursday, and let me tell you you should call a glass company they told me that the front is probably one of the hardest windows to install period! but if this helps they didnt use any sealant what so ever just some good ol wd40,and if you have trim install it in the rubber first.just another fyi if your gonna have a glass company install them let them use there own rubbers and get your trim from chevy duty (its good stuff) good luck hope this helps.
