Center consoles...

I would like to build a center console that houses 1 or 2 subwoofers. Does anybody have pics or advice on this? Also can I take newer bucket seats and plug them in?

Re: Center consoles...

If you want something really snazzy, the way to go is with fleece. My brother and I made a speaker box for his truck. Whatever flat area you want, form it with either plywood, particle board, doesnt really matter. Attatch your fleece to it, pulling it tight as you go. Once youre happy with its shape, pour on the fiberglass resin. When it hardens, it will be just as hard as cured fiberglass. Sand it, fill to your liking, paint and viola! Heres a link that shows how to do a simple speaker box, but this method can be used to make whatever you can dream up.http://volvospeed.com/Mods/fiberglass_speakerbox.html

Re: Center consoles...

I will be doing one for a single 10" in the natural disaster. I haven't got anything but a rough sketch thus far, but will be sure to post pics once I start.

Re: Center consoles...

Are you looking for photos of consoles that go from the dash, then down and back? Or, just a center console between the front seats? I hand formed a fiberglass center console that goes from the bottom of the dash, down then back toward the bench seat. I was helping a friend with some marine fiberglass projects and did this on the side. I was originally planning on using it as the base to upholster and to house my air controllers, put a set of speakers on each side and possibly a sub-woofer in the middle, and whatever switches/gauges, but have decided to go a different direction. It is the raw form, so it will need hand finishing. Hopefully, this will give you another idea/option. I'll post this in the parts section.

Re: Center consoles...

Yes my plan was to build a center console that went from the dash to the back of the cab. If you have specs (like measurements) etc etc I'd like to see them.

Re: Center consoles...

I'll be using a 10" Alpine Type R in a sealed down firing enclosure, powered by a Kicker 500W amp.

I don't know much about sound systems. What do you mean by a "sealed down firing enclosure?

Re: Center consoles...

Sealed as in, no air gets in or out of the sub box. Down Firing as in, the woofer cone faces down at the carpet and echos.
