I need Motor mount HELP!!!

I am trying to get new motor mounts for the 283 in the '66.....
everywhere I look says #2282.
I got a pair and the passenger side will work fine but the drivers side interferes with my factory power steering bracket.
I can't find any that look like the ones on it.
here is what everyone sells

and here is what I have

as you can see the ones I have fit with the power steering bracket, and the new ones are just too long and too square. I realize that I can modify the bracket or the mount.....
I would like to know if anyone else has encountered this problem.
TIA

it seems my battle with the universe is on

Re: I need Motor mount HELP!!!

It's been a while since I've used those old style mounts, but I'd say you're going to have to modify one or the other. I'd probably mod the mount.

Re: I need Motor mount HELP!!!

that is what I was thinking.....i'll get the porta-band after it soon...
i'm guessing it was a design change by the after-market suppliers
thanks Capt.!
BTW, what mounts do you use?

I usually use the '73 and up style mounts. Some say they're ugly, but I don't think so....plus they're a better design from a durability viewpoint IMO.

Not to mention you can then buy headers for 73' up that fit better.

Re: I need Motor mount HELP!!!

Did the rubber break on your old mounts? I never saw one with factory p/s. If that is all that is needed you can probably get www.steelerubber.com to revulcanize them. I think you will have to call on that one though.

Plus I didn't have any problem with later headers with the stock mounts. all you have to do is ask for a 72 year model.

Re: I need Motor mount HELP!!!

yeah the rubber on one is oil soaked and torn loose, the other one is just loose.
these new mounts are like 8 bucks apiece, so i have no heart-burn about mod'n' 'em

yeah i got the power steering brackets from Captainfab. they are for the short water pump, it tucks the pump low and tight to the block
