OT: I just should have stayed in bed today....
Well I detailed my 96 Trans Am yesterday. I had the T-tops off so I could clean the seals just like eveytime I wash it up. Well I had a brain fart and forgot to latch them back, so to make a short story long. My wife called and asked if I would like to go have lunch with her on her break so I jump in the car and when I get up to 75MPH it happend before I knew what was going on they blew off of course they shot about 20' straight up in the air and all the traffic behind me were going every which a way trying to figure out where they were going to land. Well the only thing left were the seals and the end cross bar. So you know what I'll be doing Monday. Just curious which will be cheeper getting new T-Tops or getting my head pulled out of my ass

Man that has to suck! But I kinda know the feeling. I used to have a 98 F150 STX (yeah i know) And I was hauling some stuff for someone and let the tailgate down and undid the straps so it would hang lower, well after we unloaded everything, I just jumped and and went on my way home. Hit a bump and one corner came loose and when I turned a corner it slung the tail gate off - slid across the road on the paint and smacked the curb! Needless to say it didnt fit after that.

Damn Cole, that sucks big time.
I'm only guessing here, because I don't have a idea how much new T-tops cost, but I'm thinking they will be pretty expensive. I'd say it will be cheaper to get your head pulled out of you ass.

that sucks hard man! i used to run a lawn business using my '64 as the equip ment hauler. was at a busy intersection and launched it when the light turned green, bran new self propelled toro mower flew out of the bed (no tail gate) landed upside down in the intersection. i had to pull over and run out in the middle of the intersection to pick up the parts somtimes we are just stupid, only explaination for it. worst part was, some girls i knew happend to be at the light when i ran out to pick the peices up, now that was embarassing

Damn guys those are some pretty bad stories.
Those T-Tops are going to cost you. Sorry to hear about all the bad things. I must say im pretty lucky in the fact that I havent done anything like that yet (yes I said yet, cause its going to happen one day ). Did you go back and pick up the peices of your T-tops? or did you just drive off? I was on I-10 one time coming home from some drag races out at Firebird when a truck in the east bound lane lost his tire and it hopped the concrete center and came into on coming traffic. I was almost involved in a very bad accident. Lucky to say nobody hit the tire. But alot of people were all of the road.

Good news and bad news. Good news is I remembered the web site that someone had mentioned, when everyone was talking about the serpentine conversions. Well they happen to deal with TA & Camaro parts so the T-tops went for 200.00 a peice and 43.18 for shipping. the guy was pretty cool & said I should get them this Fri or Mon. The real bad news is that the Pontiac house wanted 416.00 for just one top . I asked the guy if it was gold plated and for that price they should bring them out to the house instead of me having to come get them. Oh well live and learn.

Speaking of tires...
My brother and I drove my 68 up to Reno to get a bed from a board member the beginning of last summer. Got the bed (from a super nice board member) and spent the next few days at my uncles house working on it.
It was just about flawless, all the holes welded / shaved and ready to be filled/ primered and the bed liner was sprayed in. We loaded up the truck and headed for home. On the way back to Vegas with no A/C at a 100+ degrees in the middle of nowhere, I had a tread separate and stay on part of the tire. Just about tore the passenger side of the bed off. (exaggeration) It was so loud I didn't know what was going on! Felt like my drive shaft broke in two. It also bent and ripped and mangled my $600 exhaust (exit pipe) down to the road. I remember getting out of the truck, half deaf from the drive, looking at my new bed (that me and my brother worked on all weekend ) and exhaust. I yelled obscenities at the top of my lungs and scared the crap out of my dehydrated (exaggeration) brother then all the sudden I stopped. I started telling him and myself, calmly, how every thing was going to be ok and trying to get a grip of the situation rationally. And then, I got a grip and it hit me again. And I lost it all over again. I was able to fix the bed but now I'm paranoid. I bought tires that don't separate (according to the salesman)... Pete.
