Nice ride! I think I am the only person I know that washes parts before installing them.

Re: Old meets new - just sharing an update
My company was replacing all their wooden shelving with new steel so I grabbed all the wood. It was oil soaked, dirty, 30+ years old but when I planed it, it was awesome. So, I decided to cut it to 3" wide, plane it and use it for walls, floors, and the ceiling in the garage. I had 8 pallets 8 feet high of it and I gave three of them away to a cabinet maker. The insulation factor makes it worth it as it is 1" thick.

I am sure the cabinet guy was really happy. I would love to have wood that tall.

I am going to use this quote a lot. Here a couple of pictures of my wood walls. (there is really no good way to discuss this without having fun.

Heh, heh, you got wood. Nice looking truck. Hey S/T, it sounds silly, but have you lubed your hinges? It worked on mine.

Re: Old meets new - just sharing an update
Good looking hood on the truck ,,hope it isn't off mine Harly .. LOL also nice looking wood on the walls too..
Spot/Truck posted I've got a quick question. What is the trick to getting it to fit correctly? Mine seems to be a touch high in the back (almost like it wants to bind). I had no problems with the springs before I took it off, and doubt it that now. I'm leaning towards an adjustment issue. I do believe (and if wrong maybe some will chime in ) that you loosen the two rear bolts to your hinge where it fastens to your fender and leave the front bolt tight and then have some one hold the hood quite high while tightening the rear bolts back down and it will even out the hood and cowl that way .. Beings you said the hood sit even before and now it sticks up ,,that makes me think this will work rather than the hinge is worn out.. |

Re: Old meets new - just sharing an update
Your not kidding, that is a lot of wood. Atleast you were able to find a place to store it until you are ready to do something with it.
As a carpenter myself and I really do appreciate lumber in general - I can't take my eye's off your wood! |

Re: Old meets new - just sharing an update
It got it fitting better, but now I need to slide the hood back to close the gap at the cowl.
I'll get it soon enough. s/t
