67 Truck rear end width
I have a 67 stepside with a factory 12 bolt rear end. I am wanting to swap it out for a 9 inch Ford but need to know what width to use or what vehicles are good donors. Anyone done this before ? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure about size but I hear the Lincoln Versailles [9" with discs] fits. Of course you'll have to mount the trailing arms perches.

Re: 67 Truck rear end width
Just wondering, but why would you want to do this? The truck 12 bolt is plenty strong for hot street/strip set up. I also read that a 9 in ford rear uses up more HP than a 12 bolt.

Re: 67 Truck rear end width
While the 12 bolt is strong enough, the 9" is the preferred choice for 'bulletproof' third members....especially among those who race regularly. The advantage using the Versailles rear axle is that it had 4 wheel discs and they're not that rare a find in the yards.

Re: 67 Truck rear end width
Im doing this mostly cause it seems cheaper to change over to 5 in 5 and to convert to rear disc brakes.
