zz572 GM
OK guys, I'm going to be starting my 67 real soon (frame-up), and I would like to do a stock/custom look. The paint will be factory looking but custom kandy kolors. Prob Torq Thrust 17x11 in the rear, and 17x6 or 7 in the front. So I'm looking for engine pics. I want something to stand out so I'm considering the zz572 from GM, and was wondering if any of you had something a little diff. to check out.

Re: zz572 GM
Ok, you probably don't want the 427then, (if they are all spoken for) seems they are every where.
That LS9 is a very nice second choice. I would like something with more cylinders. Doesn't G.M. have a secret V10 in a closet somewhere? Last edited by Kayotic; 01-30-2009 at 05:48 PM. |

Re: zz572 GM
I'm not possitive, but I think that 427 is about the same price as the 572. For the $ that 427 has 480hp compaired to the 620hp. I did consider it! As far as the ls9 I have consided painting my truck blue

Re: zz572 GM
"IF" you were ever lucky enough to find one, I'm sure it would be stupid spendy.
They make around 630 hp and still get 20 something MPG! That's what makes modern HP so cool.....lots of ponies, great street manners, and better than 8 mpg!

Road and track had a write up on the "Blue Devil" ZR1 vette with the 6.2l supercharged ls9 a while back.

Re: zz572 GM
Didnt Edelbrock come out with a new 409?
I read the article where they tweaked it to really nice numbers, not sure if it was super chevy or hotrod. That would be a cool motor. |

Exactly...I am about to convert two trucks to new power...with gas prices inevitably going up again, it's a no brainer. I especially like the idea of getting 20 mpg and not having to pump the gas pedal in winter!

Re: zz572 GM
Find a good used 6.0 LS engine, bolt on a blower and for half the price or less you would as much or more power, and a blower, now thats cool!
I saved this pic from a post on here...not mine! Last edited by Skirkpat; 01-30-2009 at 11:46 PM. |

Re: zz572 GM
Bingo...that's the plan for the second truck [blown 6.0]....down the road a bit but definitely in the plan after I sell the company. I'm sayin' goodbye to old tech unless I can get the third truck in between. It's got a 396 that is a monster [600 hp]. Not much I want to change with that one.

You mean spending $12,799 for a GM built engine isn't enough to stand out on it's on

Shane, guess we are living a higher standard.
70clone, I forgot all about that engine, I have only heard about it few times. Good choice. Last edited by Kayotic; 01-31-2009 at 01:52 AM. |

Re: zz572 GM
I personally couldn't drop that much money on a crate motor. You can get crate motors with more HP for a similar amount from other builders. I would much rather see something along the LSX lines, using turbos or a supercharger to make it stand out. Hot Rods LS1 just cranked out like 620 horse with the blower install

Re: zz572 GM
The LS9's are 638 horse and 605 pound feet of torque. 25 were built over the Christmas holiday's. A few are left and available for 25K complete with belt drive system and wiring harness.
Would be very cool in your truck! |
