Column shift...

We are trying to replace the column gear shifter on our 1966 Chevy C20. Somehow we can't get it to fit like it did before we took it off. Can anybody help us with this?

It's a 3-speed manual I assume? What exactly is it that does not fit?

No its a powerglide (2 speed auto).
