HELP!! Instrument panel

Ok guys. I'm sure that somebody has done this, and yes I've searched. I have an 82 chevy k20 4x4 with a 4 speed manual. It has the idiot lights now. Just got in a new panel with gauges. Other than changing my sending units. Will it just plug and play, or am I going to have to re-pin the plug? Any help would be most appreciative. Oh, and by the way. I have looked at an 82 service manual, and it looks like I'll have to re-pin, but my chiltons makes it look like I won't. Have to be able to do all this in one day since the truck is my daily driver.

Re: HELP!! Instrument panel

go by your service manual. the chiltons manual diagrams are kinda bridged together through the years it covers. Its not always 100 percent correct.

So, you think that I am going to have to re-pin then?

Re: HELP!! Instrument panel

I think it's different, and may need extra wiring.
Someone put a Silverado IP in the 79 Custom I had and the only thing that
worked was the backlight, but I didn't keep it long enough to tackle that part
of it.
I think there is a thread about this allready, I'll look for it...
You're right, no info on that here or google.

Re: HELP!! Instrument panel

there are several threads on this topic, but you will have to repin the plug.. This is assuming it came from a suitable donor. If you are trying to put a 73 in an 86, you are looking at rewiring...

Where? I looked for a while and didn't find anything.
I wish this place had it's own search engine.
google doesn't work very well in here.

The site does have its own search, it is at the top of the page between Subscribe and Trucks for Sale.

Yeah I found that, but it still takes some searching, and I guess a lot of
people think that the google search is the only way to search here, that's
what I thought.
I wanted to help the guy that was looking for that info so I bumped the threads.
It's not like I had something better to do lol.

Re: HELP!! Instrument panel

Well, I did it. Had to re-pin it, but that wasn't to bad. Didn't work at first. Then I found out I put a hot wire in the wrong spot. Now it looks so much better. Got rid of the crappy autometer gauges, that looked like ****. Thanks for the help guys, and if anybody else needs help. Send me a message. I might be able to help.
