Sending Unit Question
Can anyone tell me if a 0-85 ohm sending unit will operate the factory fuel gauge on my 72 chevy?? I seem to remember that ours are rated at 0-90 ohms. Is the 0-85 ohms close enough to function properly? Thanks.

I guess you would just have to try it. You wouldn't think 5 ohms would make that much difference but I suppose it could make it read wrong. I'm not good with the electronics math.... LockDoc

Re: Sending Unit Question
The Burb sender is 0-90 Ohms. The sender you have will work. Although, when you fill up it wont show 100% full. It will show correct when empty.

Ahhhhhh, I get it. The gauge will never show full, because the max ohms will always be 5 short. I would imagine it would be real close. Probably just a bit under "F" instead of a bit over. Thanks for yout input, Michael Last edited by truckintexas; 02-17-2009 at 12:02 AM. |

Re: Sending Unit Question
My gauge works fine. It is dead on the money. I installed about 12 years ago now and it reads full.
I have the whole tank out of the 1993 suburban.
