anyone cut speakers in dash???
has anyone here cut holes for speakers into the top of their dash?
you got pictures? share them please. you got suggestions? share those too. i am starting body work on my cab, windshield is out and dash is stripped. now would be the time to cut the holes for them, but placement could be an issue, if anyone has suggestions, i need them. i want to do a good 4 corner setup. Re: anyone cut speakers in dash???
I thought about this also when I had the truck repainted. The driver side would have been easy but the passenger side you have to deal with the glove box.
I ended up placing two in the middle where the factory speaker goes. I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Re: anyone cut speakers in dash???
iv seen speakers replacing the stock defrost vents, if your not running a/c you could drill holes were the two outside vents are and put speakers there. plus the vent like thing between the defrost vents was an original speaker mounting place

Re: anyone cut speakers in dash???
I need my defrosters too much to do that but I think a guy could put some discrete speaker grills out towards the corners that when they were painted the color of the dash wouldn't be very noticeable. Maybe put in a couple of defroster grills or speaker grills from a junk truck to match the real ones.

Re: anyone cut speakers in dash???
I wouldn't use the speaker grills just make you a pattern and drill the holes into the dash like the center peice is. This way it's flush and you want even notice it until someone points it out.

Re: anyone cut speakers in dash???
I mounted speakers in the stock defrost vents on my 71 Dont remember what size they were, but they sounded good and fit perfect I had no working heater or AC so it worked out fine. I didn't screw them in Becuse I didnt want to ruien my dash I just top mounted them and put the speaker covers over them they did not move at all.
