Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

Thinking about selling it.

Should I paint over the stripes or leave them?

Dump the brush guards and hood ornament also?

All opinions help, thx!

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

That's a beautifull original looking Truck...apart from those stripes, so get rid of them.

If you're gonna sell it, I'd just leave the stripes and let the new owner deal with em.

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

It's already a two tone truck with an all white top... the stripes just don't belong on that particular truck. I'd leave the bumper guards but remove the clear bug guard.

BUT... if your selling it... ask whatever you want for it, if no one wants to give that for it, then make the improvements and see what happens.

IMO your not gonna get any more money with the stripes or without them if your going to sell, but they don't look like they belong there.

If you are selling it leave it as is and let the new owner handle it's looks to his/her likings it is what I would do.

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

I would get rid of both the stripes and wheels if it were mine to keep. If I was looking for a truck to buy I would pass on it unless it was such a price I couldn't turn it down.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I agree let the new owner decide what needs to go and what stays. If you don't have luck selling it after a while, try removing the stripes/wheels whatever

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

dump the stripes, hood ornament and bug shield in my opinion.....if you can have that done for a fair price I would do it before you sell.....I think someone looking for a "new" vehicle would appreciate not having to put it in a shop right after they get it, to correct something they dont like about the truck and I think a majority of people would disapprove of those stripes....jmho......wheels and tires can be easily changed and are personel choice so I would leave them.......

PS nice truck btw

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

You might consider lowering the price by the amount that you would spend on bodywork.

People love a deal...even with stripes.

and that is one nice truck.

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

Keep it as is. Use the money you would invest in any mods and drive it to the rust belt. Camp out at board members houses till it sells and fly home!

Sounds kinda goofy, but when I look at that truck I don't see the paint I see the clean body. Almost guaranteed it would sell for twice as much out here and you'd probably have some fun!!!

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

I'd let the next owner decide. You could paint the hood and the next guy might just paint the entire truck a different color. A serious buyer will look beyond the stripes/wheels.

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

If you plan on selling it. The more stock the better. When you customize, you reduce the number of people that might be interested. On the other hand, if it was customized by a really well know customizer, like Barris, Roth, or Von Dutch, ect...then it really adds to the price.

The stripes looks well done, just does not fit with how the truck was finished. The rally stripes are meant to go with a hi-performance look. It seems like this truck was done up more along the grampa look, or bling look.
The rims look like the fit better on a car not a truck, IMHO.
The hood ornament.. What were you thinking? I love the old car hood ornaments, but this just does not fit. The bug catcher, well it works on a road trip, just to keep the windshield cleaner during the trip, but I would take it off afterwards. It only takes a few minutes to remove, so it is not a big deal.
The bed cover, it is hard to really get a good view from the photos. Some are nice, and if it didn't require making holes in the bed then it can be removed or left in place.
Other than that, it looks like a very nice up kept truck. Another plus, it is a California truck, with most likely little surface rust and not needing major parts replaced.

Ok enough said, I'm stepping of the soap box.

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

If I were going to make it mine......the hood ornament, rally stripes, bugshield, foglights, bedcover, wheels/tires would have to go. The color isn't bad, the truck just needs to be brought back into perspective.

Not hatin' on your truck bud.....these are just my opinions.

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

I would:
re-paint the hood and it looks like the cowl panel is painted with stripes too.
remove hood ornament
keep the bumper guards because it probably scratched the chrome on the bumper where they rest
remove bug deflector
remove those fog light things under the grille
Put some factory wheels on there, either steelies with hubcaps or full wheel covers or some ralley wheels.
My 2 cents Trevor
