Ebay score!
I scored these on ebay last week for $19! I am going to blast them monday and then restore them with the factory red and blue color scheme.
Does anyone know what the factory color name was for the red and blue? I'd imagine that it is the same colors used on the chevy badges.... Also, do you guys think I should install them or leave them off? Currently the holes have been filled in on my '60. Opinions?

Re: Ebay score!
If you dont want to drill your fenders, maybe use them somewhere else just to look cool. Door panels, glove box, fill in a guage hole???? Just a thought.

Re: Ebay score!
Nice score! I'm actually probably going to put mine in on the console near the top facing forward. Just one though. Paint it in the Black Metallic to offset it with the SOM console. Just an ida. I just wanted to keep the body clean and straight so that the details are noticeable.

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe even the door panels?

Re: Ebay score!
i would use the holes i would take a thin piece of metal drill the two holes and use screws that have flat heads screw the metal to the badge then you have a flat area to use some 3m trim adhesive (double sided tape) and you can put it any where if you dont like it take it back off and move it!

Re: Ebay score!
Nice score. For authenticity, I would restore them to factory spec's. and install them in the factory location, using 3M body trim adhesive, so you don't compromise your paint. If you don't like them there, they can be removed or relocated, at a later date and not damage the finish.

Re: Ebay score!
OK I blasted the emblems, laid down three coats of primer and three coats of white gloss. Does anyone have any tricks for taping off the "6" to get the red laid down? Mind you the whole "6" is white including the raised sides.
Here is how they look now....

Re: Ebay score!
Well, this didn't turn out the way I planned. First, I bought the wrong blue (it has metallic flakes) and then the tape job turned out to look like a*s!
Should I blast it again and then give it a shot hand painting it? What do you guys think??

Re: Ebay score!
What about doing it the opposite way? Paint your colors (red+blue) and mask for the white? I dont know if it would be easier that way or not.

Re: Ebay score!
I used a brand new razor blade. The whole time I was wishing that I had an xacto knife. The tape I used was the blue 3m painters tape, but maybe I should get either pinstripe tape, or something else.....

Corts, I scored these a few months ago on eBay also. They were in great condition and I don't think I will have them re-chromed.

Re: Ebay score!
Thanks guys, I was thinking about the pinstriping tape too. And these are made out of aluminum, I'm pretty sure...I only painted the one emblem so I'll go pick up some pinstripe tape today and try it again.

Re: Ebay score!
Corts,
If you have a local well stocked Hobby Shop go in and ask for the Timiya masking tape. It's super flexible and designed to go around details on small models. It comes in a few different sizes, 1/8" 1/4" 1/2 ". Jake
