Cheyenne Options?
Does anyone have information on interior and exterior options for a 72 Cheyenne/Super Cheyenne. As always, photos are great too.

What is the Cheyenne package and what is the difference between it and the Super Cheyenne package. Sorry for not being clear.

Re: Cheyenne Options?
I am trying to build a clone/replica Cheyenne. I have installed power steering, tilt, tach, factory a/c, factory bucket seats w/ console, woodgrain panel doors w/stainless trim, rear cargo light, upper exterior trim, overhead panel w/trim, stereo alarm, exterior bed tire carrier, cheyenne badges, stereo, alarm.
What am i missing besides woodgrain dash, ash tray and glove box? I see alot of trucks on You Tube and other internet sights claiming to be Cheyenne's, but they all seem to have different options. Kind of confusing. |

Re: Cheyenne Options?
Well sounds like you pretty much got it covered.
This is a Cheyenne Super package- Depending on year, I take it is a 72' that you are talking about 1972: -Woodgrain exterior lower trim, not all had the upper trim, -Chrome bumpers -Wheel Cover hubcaps -woodgrain dash bezel, woodgrain door panels with chrome trim, woodgrain glovebox plaque, Cheyenne Super glovebox emblem with scroll around the Super portion, carpet floors covering, woodgrain tailgate plaque, chrome tailgate handle cover, cargo light more times than not, headliner with chrome trim 4x4 related: 4 speed shifter was chrome, 205 transfer case shifter was chrome That's about it for a Cheyenne Super is concerned. There are many options though that you could of ordered when new to put in the truck as far as any standard truck could be ordered like: -Factory Tow Hooks $$$ -Dealer Installed Shoulder Harness Setup $$$$ -AM/FM $$$ -Underdash 8 track Player $$$$$ -GM Tissue Holder -GM Compass -402 Big Block (unless 4x4) -Bumper Guards -Different Rear Bumpers -Tachometer -Comfortilt Steering -Bucket Seats w/ Console -Shoulder Harness buckle holders for front of console - the list can go on, and so does the money Trevor Here is my 71' Super

Re: Cheyenne Options?
There are a few inaccuracies in the above descriptions. As per Gm :
Cheyenne- lower wide chrome -woodgrain w/tailgate band, interior dome light switch, cargo light, chrome front bumper, chromed hub caps, full foam seat, cigar lighter and deluxe trim interior, bright window moldings-all, chrome front bumper, wood grained door panel inserts (72), headliner, Cheyenne name plate Z84 optio same as Custom Sport truck. NO wood grain on dash or glove box upper molding available at additional cost as were radios and any trans any engine combo above 307/250 w/3 speed. Cheyenne super option YE9: Chrome front bumper, full wheel covers, upper and lower chrome trim, wood grained dash and glovebox trim with emblem(super), special seat trim- houndstooth bench seat only- buckets recieve vinyl trim only, special name plates for fenders. All other options available at extra cost- so you could have a 250 6 with 3 speed and cheyenne super trim, radio delete truck with rear step bumper (which was a higher cost option). My 71 is a factory super as is my 72 - the options on both trucks are very different in some respects- the 71 was ordered to pull with and came originally with below eyeline mirrors and the step bumper. The 4x4 has a manual throttle and did not have the chrome transmission shifter- there is some question if supers came with a chrome transmission shifter, but it definately came with chromed transfer case shifter. Hope this helps answer you questions.

Re: Cheyenne Options?
I just bought an all original factory Cheyenne (my first one) and it looks like it has everything you all say it is suppose to and doesn't have any of what you say it shouldn't have so looks like you all have some sound advice.

Re: Cheyenne Options?
The only thing I see that is incorrect is Cheyennes didn't have woodgrain instrument cluster. No woodgrain on dash at all on Cheyennes or Sierras. Chevys were black accent and GMCs were color coordinated with vinyl color.
4wds came with both shifters chrome.

Re: Cheyenne Options?
It was before 1981. My father ordered a brand new 78' K20 Silverado with a 454. They definitely never produced any in 67-72 4x4's. After that, I am not sure. Maybe as soon as 73'. Trevor

I am not 100% certain,but I believe it was '77 when 454s went in K-models

Also, all the P02 wheel covers I have seen were options as they appear on the SPID as such, but I've not seen a Super with the dog dish style. What was standard? What have you guys seen?

Re: Cheyenne Options?
Hey Zoomin' to my knowledge, dog dish caps were standard, and the full wheel covers were optional. All of the full wheel covers I have and have seen are also stainless with chrome center caps. You never see one that is rusted or pitted as far as the cover, but the caps are hard to find in good usable shape. Trevor

Re: Cheyenne Options?
That's a good question about the Supers having PO2 wheelcovers. I always believed it was how Trevor explained it,but wonder if the were part of the Super option, yet listed as their own option. I have also never seen a Super without them and I've seen options listed on trucks before that would be included in the trim package, like full foam seat on a Custom Deluxe. I'd have to check sales info to be sure on that.
