I want to get different tires on my truck. I want the back tires to be wider and the truck to look like a hot rod

Re: I want wider tires on the back ..What size?
To offer the appropriate help, we @ least need a starting point. What size (sizes) are currently on the truck?

The rims are 15x8. The front tires are 245/60/14 and back are 295/50/15. The front tires look to big compared to the back. I want the truck to look like a street hotrood, a little lowered, not stock. |

The reason the front tires look big compared to the rear is because the side walls are about the same height for each while the back tires are wider. It's an optical illusion.... These trucks have big, open wheel wells so height is as important as width here. A 7" wheel up front w/a 215-225 tire is about what the factory used. Stick w/that up front in a 70 series tire. One limitation in your stated size is the rear wheels are only 8" wide. This means you can only run a tire thats 'X' wide because of the wheels width. That being said, you can fit up to 10" wide wheels in back w/o cutting if you get the 'right' back-spacing. The problem is finding a wide tire that's also fairly tall.... they just don't offer much in 15's anymore. A nice choice (& popular one) is a 275-60 or 285-70. A tall enough tire that's any wider is just not available unless you switch to something like a DOT drag radial (which will work but wear very fast from their softer ruber compound). Yor current 295's are technically wider the the 275-285's, but a taller height would again cause the optical illusion of a bigger. wider set-up. Yesr of truck? Stock height or lowered? If lowered, how much? Disc or drums?
