Changing front & rear coil springs on '65 Chevy C10
I am getting ready to change the front & rear coil springs on a '65 Chevy C10 truck and was hoping to get some technical advice. I assume I will need a coil spring compressor, but can someone share the "play-by-play" process of changing out the front & rear coil springs and any specialty tools I may need.
I am going back in with factory height coils. Thanks in advance for your input. Last edited by LILRED66; 04-28-2009 at 10:39 AM. |

Here's a past post where front spring removal is described.

Re: Changing front & rear coil springs on '65 Chevy C10
With the help of the search feature, earlier this morning, I was able to find some good information. I replaced the front and rear coils with stock height coil springs this afternoon at my shop with common tools, a floor jack and some jack stands in about 4 hours. It would have gone faster, but the top and bottom bolts on the rear coil spring cups were rusted and had to be cut off, so this took about an hour or so more time. I also repaired the coil spring caps, so I didn't have to buy new ones.
Thanks for those that replied. |
