Here are some pics of before & after heater core swap. May I add was alot of fun. It wasnt all that bad doing the actual swap. The time consuming part was cleaning up the heater box for paint and putting a few coats on it. I scuffed it up between coats, and I also took apart the blower motor(fan blades) scrubbed them clean, cleaned the inside of the whole box, and lubed up that annoying bracket that the cable for the heat mounts on to. I should have no more squeaking when I slide that lever.The heater motor to firewall seal was a little fun to work with so I glued it to the heater box with some black rtv silicone and a heat gun. Thanks to Tim Christian @ Christians Classics for his seal kit. They worked out great !!! :c2

I would take it back off of the firewall and remove the RTV Silicone!! Silicone attracts water and will cause the firewall to rot out in the area that it is applied. 3M strip calk is what you should be using. WES

Silicone also gives the metal silicone invasion problems. What that does is cause paint to fish-eye when applied. WES

I appologise for not commenting on the looks. It does look great. I somtime get too wound up in what things do, and forget to comment on how they look. WES

Thanks for the compliments. Wes I appreciate you letting me know about that. Actually I used it on the side that seats the seal to the heater box, so the seal itself on the firewall side didnt get any silicone on it. I hope that made sense... I will keep that in mind for future reference. Believe me I would be pulling it off right now if it wasnt the case. Thanks again guys

I used some Sherwin-Williams sandable primer in a can. I used about 1 1/2 cans of that stuff. And Sherwin Williams black. I believe it was a semi-gloss. I like those spray cans because of the fan spray it gives you. I ran out of clear and was too lazy to get some more. I will be getting more and will spray it. I used 400 sandpaper inbetween coats with a little water. Wear a mask if you sand that nasty fiberglass
