how rare is this option combo?
okay, okay, i know everybody likes to think that thier truck is super rare.. or that they have something special..and to everyone who owns one, it is special.
Ive always thought my truck was a boring, low-optioned truck, because i mean heck, it came factory radio-delete.. but then i got to thinking.. what are the odds of a 6cyl, with an auto, being built with a full gauge cluster, heavy duty rear springs, and a stortbox fleetside? maybe its just wishful thinking... I think heavy duty means 3/4 ton rear coils or ??? also, its a '69 and one of the option codes reads something along the lines of "special bed floor" Ill get a code tomorow if no one can get an idea now..

Heavy duty coils were the dual rate springs I believe. My truck had them too. These trucks were basically built to order, what the customer wanted. Not relying on 'packages' like modern trucks

Re: how rare is this option combo?
Could it possibly have been built as a company fleet truck ?

Mine had the heavy duty springs as well - but it's still a half ton short bed. They never made short fleet 3/4 tons. Special bed floor would indicate a wood bed, IIRC.

I know our C20 has HD rear springs, which indicates the leaves that contact the trailing arms when loaded.

My friend has a 72 short bed step side, with 6cyl auto, guages,p/s p/b, no radio. I think a 6 with an auto is unusual

Re: how rare is this option combo?
well, the option label on my rig does not say anything about any transmission standard, auto or 4spd or what. it also doesn't list engine size. I'm assuming it was a 6cyl because the writing on the firewall says CS which i think means 6cyl. it doesn't list power steering or power brakes. only the gauges, painted rear bumper, heavy duty springs, and color.
so what transmission did it come with originally? is there another way to tell? original drivetrain is long gone, it now has a small block with a t350. its a low-hump trans tunnel so I'm thinking it was an auto from the factory. also, the column looks very original, and it is an auto column with L1 L2 and Drive

Re: how rare is this option combo?
If there is no tranny listed then it was a 3 speed on the column. All factory automatics were listed on the option sticker. And yes, CS would have been a 6 cyl truck
