who makes this adjustable tracking arm? will it interfere?

this was on my truck when i bought it. ive heard from a few of you guys about certain companys adj tracking arms interfering with bolt on c-notches etc.

anyways can anyone tell who manufactures this specific one on my truck and what companys bolt in c-notch i should go with so that it doesnt interfere? im going to be bagging it january.

Well i've been pondering that same c-notch interference problem with the tracking arm (panhard bar). If you air your truck out you will run into a problem with the side to side movement of the axle ar you raise and lower your truck. This is because the track bar swings in an arc. First of all I would recommend the super track bar kit that ECE www.earlyclassic.com sells but you would need to perform the same alterations to this that Slammed68 has done.www.jayspot.com (Here I go again giving you even more props) He welded the frame mount end of the track bar to the passenger trailing arm so that when the bags are deflated the track bar is still lower than the c-notch but still keeps the axle right where it should be. He used the regular c-notch that most places sell for our truck, i think he said it was from Classic Performance Parts www.classicperform.com. It'll make more sense once you look at his pictures!!! Hope this helps.

You're going to want the Super Track Bar from ECE. You're going to have some clearance issues on the right side notch. Search the board for discussions on this topic as I know that Slammed67 and others (including me) have run into this same issue.

kenneth,

are you saying that the ECE super track bar wont require any modifications? if so id rather purchase one of those and sell my current adj tracking bar. i have no access to a welder so itll be easier to buy one that wont interfere than modify my current one so it doesnt interfere

No, it will interfere with any of the current bolt on notches on the market today. Here's a picture of the interference problem between the Super Track Bar and the bolt on notch.

How much for your old junky panbar that you probaly would just throw away so you could just send it to me I have a big trash can? (lol) I would be interested in buying the panbar. I lowered my truck 5" in the rear and the rearend has shifted the the pass. side about 2". I think an adj. pan bar will fix this.

I installed the right side of the super track bar under my trailing arm, instead of on top. It required a little grinding on the trailing arm, but no welding, so may be an option for you. It looks like the axle will hit my bump stop before the track arm hits the c-notch, though I haven't tried the swing the susp. without the springs in place. Hope this helps.

What JHickson6 said

And the pics help clarify the problem. My solution was different. I extended the right side notch back so the whole track bar end could ride up and down into the notch area. No problems after making the mod to the notch. Either method works, but you'll have to choose one of them

Your bar looks just like the one on my truck. Mine came from Classis Performance Products I think.

if you add a lowering block under the axle the truck will not only be lower but the track arm will clear the notch. I used the early classic bar and a 2 inch block, and i have no problems with it hitting my notch.

Have you got any pics of this setup? On mine, the track bar bracket and Heim joint had serious clearance problems until I notched the notch back almost 4".

That setup looks sweet and I love the color, what is it? Are you at all worried about the pinion angle of the differential because of the blocks? Also what did you use for your upper bag mounts? Thanks Jared

thanks guys, ive been working on the body and motor, finally got the brake and fuel lines done. The color is a custom mix, dont have a name for it, i just spent a few hours at the paint shop mixing paint till i liked it, the bag mounts all came from air ride technologies but now that i got them it would have been easy to make them myself. Here is a few pics of the rear setup.

It looks like your clearance on the Panhard bar mount is reallllly close, but since you did your own notch instead of the bolt-on kit, you gain a little extra side to side clearance. You'll still want to make sure you've got good clearance on that piece. Remember, the rearend will jump around from side to side a little.

Looks great. Keep us posted with plenty of pics and info!
