chevy van column shift in 55-59
i just put in a column out of a van but the i dont know if it is the right one the shift linkage is on the wrong side towards the fender side just seeing if anybody has any opinions about hooking it up i know that people run these just have not seen any pix of how they hook them up

Lokar and others make a cable setup that will work. If you don't have clearance issues with the brake arm you could modify a zee bar setup to work. The arm on the zee bar would need to be moved about 180 degrees. Search van steering columns, I'm sure someone has done it.

if you have a local pull a part check out the front wheel drive cars as they use cable shift. good luck

I have the same column & bought the Lokar cable shifter & it did not work . The supplied cable was not long enough. I then made a mechanizem to change the shifter to the engine side. It work like a charm. See att. pics.
