Do you remember when you could ___?
Find gas at .49.9 a gallon? Get full service including air in the tires? Get your oil checked? have 'em check the windshield fluid? Some of us do anyway. Saturday evening we had a cruise at this lil o' restored gas station. Talking to the owner stated this idea to restore this station was his his now 11 yr old son. As he wanted personally to tear this all down and make a parking lot. Thought it was sorta neat had to ham it up with the 71 GMC. I know..worthless with out pics..

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
Sammy,
Where in Missouri is the gas station? I'm guessing Missouri based on the location on your avatar. |

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
The cheapest I remember is about 73 Cents, when I was a little kid
That gas station looks nice. Glad to see it restored versus a parking lot

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
I can remember .23 cent a gallon gas as a NORM and the gas wars taking it down to .15 cent a gallon. We had a lot of stations just like that, with the old styl lube lifts on the outside and some with the open pits in the floor that a vehicle was driven over so that service work could be done. If nothing else the "COLD" chest type pop coolers inside with the bottles in ice water.

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
$0.16.9 was the cheapest i've ever bought gas.It was a gas war in about 70-71 and most places were about $0.24.9 a gal.
I like the station and wish I could find one and win LOTTO so I could restore it.

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
Thanks. Now I challenge everyone for a vintage station with your ride parked at the pump.

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
Maybe I'm older than dirt or it's because I was raised in the country, but I remember a station that had the gravity flow pumps. My dad would get gas there when I was young and I even worked there when I was 13 or 14 years old.
Here's a pic of what they look like. Not sure of the gas price though, but I know we would get 1 or 2 dollars worth most of the time. from this site: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DN |

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
there is a similar old service station in one of the small towns near me, i knw alot of didferent people who have owned it and used it as a shop and to my knowledge the towns bank owns it now, but its just a cool old rundown little station that was used up untill some time in the 70's, the pumps are gone as are most of the windows, but ive always wanted to fix it up, or see it fixed up
sweet looking pictures, and cool little stepper

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
Rats!!! 68gmsee beat me to it.
I was going to ask where the pumps where that had the "calibrated jugs" atop for gravity fueling cars & trucks.

Re: Do you remember when you could ___?
72 BlkButy..Yeah it's on the very north side of Main St. The owner has no problems with folks as long as they don't rattle the doors they are hooked to an alarm. Sometimes he brings out an old 50's restored fire pump truck to park in the lot too.
