Another 86 noob rear leaf question
So my truck squats pretty bad in the back, even when the bed is empty.
I have some 5 leaf springs to replace them, but Im wondering if th rear for some reason has been lowered. Is this rear shackle the OE size? Or is it longer and therefore lowering the rear? Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
Nice truck by the way! It doesn't look like the shackle is of after-market design but I'm no professional. The hanger looks similar to mine. here is a link to my suspension question/pic. Keep in mind that I have a 4 inch drop when this picture was taken. I also took my overload spring out and my truck doesn't sag at all.

Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
That's a stock shackle and hanger. It looks like your springs are sagging.

Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
I would just add some drop spindles and springs to front

Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
Got a pic of that set up? I just have to make sure that I have the most load capacity that I can get.

Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
OK, so the leafs on the truck are 4 leaf 56". I unknowingly bought 5 leaf 52" springs from a junkyard and didnt realize until we had removed one side. I had a few people tell me to just swap the top 56" leaf, with the top 52" leaf. Has anyone ever done this? And if so, how bad is the job?, or Is this a dumb idea, bend over and buy a new set of 56" leafs.
Its my work truck, and the only people around here that I can find to do it, want $450 to rebend/fix the leafs on the truck, and $900 to replace with new. I think a new set from LMC is like $250 + $125 for shipping, but I dont really understand the page. It says nothing about 52 or 56, and I called one day and the lady didnt know either. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=143 There are 2 different 6 leaf packs, so me thinks there are 52 and 56's. Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
The free shipping would help, but it doesnt show the length either, and Im wanting 5 leaves. ANd I searched again for my 86 model and it gave me only helper springs, no reg. leafs.

Re: Another 86 noob rear leaf question
Did a little more searching, and I can only find 7,8 or 9 leaf 56" springs... So I guess maybe the previous owner had one of those set ups, and removed some springs? The more I research, the more im feeling like Im screwed.
