Caravan rear leaf springs on an AD

Has anyone here ever used a set of Dodge Caravan rear leaf springs on their AD truck??? This guy http://www.northwestcoin.ca/hotrod.html
Alan Gingles did it and it looks pretty str8 fwd. (He has a few pics of his AD here) He doesn't currently have any pics of the swap on his website but he used to. Would probably want to box the frame where the hardware attaches to the frame. Wondering if they would lower the truck a bit. Any feedback???

Re: Caravan rear leaf springs on an AD

There is a guy on the Hotrodders.com site that used caravan/voyager rear leafs but he fabricated new rear shackles/mounts. He was running a hemi so it must have worked well.

I just installed a set of Posie rear leafs on my 54. They have two versions. One (440) keeps the rear axle in the stock location while the other (440A) moved the axle location reward 3 inches to center it in the fenderwells. The springs also lower the ride height 3 inches which when combined with an axle flip provides a total of 6 inches of drop. The springs are rated for 400HP and come with new bushings.

The ride quality is much better than the original springs. They bolt to the stock mounting hardware also. I replaced the front spring bolts and the rear shackle assemblies with new ones from Posies also. Their pricing was competitive with the Classic Parts, LMC, etc.

I felt it was better to go with something that was engineered specifically for the truck instead of using something that might work considering how critical the rear suspension is to the safety of the truck and myself.

Re: Caravan rear leaf springs on an AD

Great info. I'm on a very tight budget so I think I will go with the caravan rears. I can also move the wheel locations back as needed. i'm using a 305 but not rodding it. It's just an everyday driver and I'm ok with stock ride height or maybe a little lower.
