For all to see!

Hey I wanted to post pictures of what I have done so far with my truck. Plus I want feed back on what I should do next. Please give it to me straight! I want to know what looks good, bad, and the ugly. The truck has a 350, drop spindles, hangers, shackles, toxic shocks, and I took the overload spring out.

Re: For all to see!

Looking good but the rear needs to come down a bit more,I would also get rid of the white lettering on the tires, it takes the eye away from the truck as a whole.

Re: For all to see!

thanks for all the compliments! I would like to lower the rear a bit more but I have been hesitant because I don't really want to cut on the frame. I'm trying to convince myself it will be ok if I do. The second pic is of the rear driver quarter panel. I was hoping that one of our member might be able to quote me a price or an idea of how much it would cost to fix.

Flamingbig10, when you say black headlight doors would that be the bezel the headlights sit in?

Westie_66, I know what you mean. I thought I would use these tire until I got some nice wheels! I'm not for sure what size or kind would look the best yet.

Re: For all to see!

I like to stance for a hot rod, go lower in the back for a cruiser.
Wire brush your wheels and paint 'em (rally silver?), It will give you some contrast between the wheels and tires.
It seems like I see silver and black, so run with that theme.

Re: For all to see!

love the truck
I also like the NASCAR wheel tire look
a great way to look tough on a low budget
I vote for a new coat of black paint
and some bleach white for the raised letters
no nonsense race truck look I say
and p.s. any billet anything would spoil the mood
It's your truck and there are as many ways to style
them as there are owners -you're off to a great start

Absolutely! I need a paint job for sure! I am so sick of the little scratches and dings and such. I wanted to maybe do something two tone. Thanks for the compliments!

Re: For all to see!

I like the all black on it. I think roll pan the front to match the back. I also agree about the rear stance. "Bring it down!" The wheels would look sharp with a fresh coat of black paint and some center caps and trim rings. I think it would be just right to offset the all black and tie the grille & handles back in. Oh, and get rid of the white letters.

How so? Did you mono leaf the rear, down set the leaf on the shackle, or both? You had to have fliped it and removed the bumb stop right?

I agree! I don't know about the front roll pan though. Thanks. You really don't like the letters? haha

bigarmzz, by the way your truck looks awesome!

Re: For all to see!

I would suggest a set of black D-window wheels (for a more correct Nascar look).. put a bed cover on it, a spoiler on the tailgate, and a big 3 on the side.

If I lived in the city and had the $$$ I would build a Nascar looking truck.

Re: For all to see!

I agree you should bring it down in the back. I would also get some chrome exhaust tips and tint the taillights.

Where did you get that tailgate?

The tailgate was the original. I got a relocation kit from summit (out 60 bones) and the rest is body work.

Re: For all to see!

Black mirrors. Find a set of the painted ones (on base trucks) and redo them.
paint the axle ends black or better yet, some GMC dog dishes (just for contrast).
Paint the rear plate pocket.
Repaint the wheels black with a single pinstripe (white/red/yellow/orange, you choose) for contrast
Paint black up in the wheel wells
Swap to the 88-91 grill (more black paint), like on bigarmzz' truck only GMC.
Raplace front bumper with air dam in front (keeping with NASCAR/stealth/speed thing you got going) when you paint it.
The lots of chrome on the front looks weird compared to all the black on the back. Almost like 2 different trucks.

Still nicer than mine... sigh...

Re: For all to see!

I think the truck looks cool the way it is. Just drop the rear with a flip kit. What kind of wheels are you looking to get?

Re: For all to see!

I agree with those that are suggesting a Nascar theme. It's not my choice, but you already have it working and can be done on a budget.

Spend the time to sand your wheels and paint them "satin" not flat black. Add a set of cheap center caps with no trim rings. Find a set of painted mirrors and do satin black there too.

The grill and front bumper look to nice to paint black, so I would see if you can find a decent painted bumper for cheap.

As mentioned and bright single stripe down the body line and around the wheel edge would really set it off.

Re: For all to see!

Extend the frame, put 4x4 axles under it, make it a convertible with lambo doors, and a tilt front end......Just kidding,

It looks good, I agree that the
raised white letter radials belong on a 1979 trans am, if that is the look you are going for keep them, but I have not ran letters out in 20 years, just have them mounted black side out, while you are at it, paint the wheels, I like the argent (stock silver ) with chrome caps and rings, I know that alot of people run 'em like that, it's because it is a killer look, and alot cheaper than aluminum. Drop the rear even with the front, and I say it will be all taste after that.

I like fast cars, so a Nascar theme is out for me...and I also do no not like the look of trinkets all over my vehicles (once again the roach clip with feathers belong on a 79 T/A, the curb feeelers and stick on air vents belong on a 79 Caddy, I do not like fake roll bars, running boards, bug visors, headlight covers, but I do like Mexican food! I like my cars clean, understated, but nice.
