On the move again!!
Well I finished my project in Beaumont, Tx. Now they want to send me to Charlottesville, Va . I have to be there on the 8th This unit is supposed to last 15months then move 3miles down the road and build another co-gen unit. I hate all the moving but atleast we get to see cool places for free. How many of our group live around there I sure would like the oppertunity to get to meet some of you.

As for the truck its pulling our new trailer I use to travel. It beats motel rooms plus its a tax deduction. Mike as a matter of fact we will be going right buy Cherryville. I'm a crane operator for Gilbert Industries. We specialize in cogen units "power plants that run off a 250,000Hp turbines"

Mike, that would be really cool, since we will be passing by on I-85. The bad news is all I know is it will sometime on the 2nd. figure we will spend the night in South Carolina on the 1st. Tell ya what if it dont happen. I be so close that we can still get together one weekend. I sure would like to get a good look at your truck. The plant we are working on is in a little town called Scottsville, Va.

You say co-gen unit. Are you building air seperation plants ? I have many years in cryogenics. Ran a Hydrogen plant for awhile. The stress sucked.

We nick-named them co-gen units. What they are is generator stations that are manufactured by GE they use a 250,000HP turbine engine that run off of natural gas to turn the generator. All of the exhaust heat is then ran threw a boiler unit to create steam which drives a steam turbine which powers the second generator. the general set up is 2 gas 1 steam and this particular set up can run the whole city of Lubbock, Tx by its self. Hope that is a better expaination of what we build.

what kind and size of crane do you operate? It might sound kind of silly but I have always dreamed of being a crane operator... it looks like such a fun job, plus good pay. but its a long long road as a helper before they even think about letting you touch the controls

Well we made it and man is it cold up here. Sorry it took sooooo long to reply. We finally got our phone put in. Mike I run a Mantiwoc 222 which basicly is good for 100tons. The truth is its fun to run but there is alot of mental strain. The rule is if something goes wrong its the operators fault. But all in all its a pretty good way to make a living. I love the feeling of being able to stand back at the end of the day to see what I have helped build
