Hello from Springtown Texas

Hey guys!
Just picked up a 1973 Cheyenne Super 10 1/2 with a 454
The body is straight, paint is good for it's age.
Had to get a battery, fuel pump, tranny seals, timing belt service and tune up, not bad for 350.00 though.
pictures to follow.
Glad I found this place!

Re: Hello from Springtown Texas

Hey thanks for the warm welcome!
Add a new steering box to the repairs, should have some pictures to post within a week.
I have the original brochure for 1973 and owners manual that was in the glove box....I thought that was pretty cool

And from what I hear at least one guy that powder coats? He's pretty pretty good from what everyone says, but for some reason the name escapes me? Hopefully he will introduce himself? Would be good to not have to ship parts !!

Re: Hello from Springtown Texas

As you can tell from the engine baypic, I need to gunk the engine.
Also I have discovered that it needs some brake work.
The engine is running pretty strong, however I think the quadrajet needs to be rebuilt or replaced with a edlebrock or holly.....which carb would you guys suggest for this 454? model #and make?

Any help is appreciated

Also any idea where I might be able tto pick up another set of stainless steel hubcaps to match the ones on the truck?

Re: Hello from Springtown Texas

Nice Truck!!!

If you are going to keep it stock then I am a really big fan of the Quadrajet. You might be able to find someone local to rebuild but when I lived in Ft. Worth...no such luck a few years ago. They are really not that difficult to rebuild BUT...the throttle shafts wear and that is there #1 problem when getting a few miles on them.

I dealt with a guy in Wisconsin...Sparkys (414) 447-7500 who does nothing but rebuilds Quadrajets. Give him a call and I bet you will like the results.

As far as hubcaps...Those are very easy to come buy...watch on this website as I see them quite often...Also...Ebay has those.

Good luck!
