Before and after pics of lowering my 78 K5
Here is the before pic with factory suspension
Here is after. I first installed 2 inch drop spindles, then I cut 1 1/4 coils off the front springs. I then removed 2 leaf springs from the rear and installed 2 inch drop shackles. I still have a 1/2 inch spacer (on top of axle perch below leaf springs?) to remove from the rear. But I am starting to like the lower stance. It has 8 inch ralleys with 235/60/15 on front and 275/60/15 on rear. I tried 3 inch drop springs up front but it went too low. I still need drop shocks, but it rides pretty smooth now. Will be dropping in big block soon. |

Did u have to modify the gas tank hose. I got a 79 i want to do a 4/6 drop on. What brand spindles did u use. Any problems with the 15" wheels bolting up. Looks nice.

I plan on doing what this guy did in this post with the fuel neck.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...74#post3187274 The spindles were cheap ebay ones. I had no issues with the 15 inch wheels |

The new stance looks great! I just wondered what it would look like with the top off, so I worked up the following. Not the greatest quality as I only have the program "Paint" and not Photoshop....

Re: Before and after pics of lowering my 78 K5
I would love to find a set of Weld Wheels or Centerlines for it. I plan on putting the truck on a diet since I drag race. I also just like the look of welds. They are just hard to come by used for chevy trucks 5x5
Here is a pic of the 454 prior to disassembly and being sent to the machine shop. Its a standard bore 454 with a steel crank that turned to 20/20. It has thumb rods and the heads are 049's that look untouched. Right now I am trying to pic a piston. |
