Throw out bearing noise ?
Dropped in a rebuilt 305 in my K5. Did clutch while we were in there. Had flywheel turned, new throw out bearing, fork and ball. When I depress the clutch i can hear metal on metal hissing sound. Shifts fine into all gears. Just can't get rid of the noise. Old clutch never made a sound and really didn't look like it was in too bad of shape. Fluid level is fine.
Bad throw out bearing?

Very possible. Another possiblity is the dustcover rubbing on the flywheel when the clutch is depressed. Usually see this on high mileage engines with a worn out thrust bearing. When the clutch is engaged it shoves the crankshaft forward enough to make the flywheel rub the cover and or Starter nose cone.

For anyone interested, It was my throw out bearing. I got the tranny pulled last Friday night. Out came the ball bearings and the Chinese throw out bearing was torn up pretty bad.
Advance said this was the first time they'd seen something like that. Only had about 600 miles on new engine/clutch. Went back with a Rhino Clutch made in USA
