2 piece speedometer cable
Hello everyone.
New to the board but love it already. Looking for the adaptor that goes in the middle of a two piece speedometer cable on a 1985 c10 silverado? local dealer has been a joke! Thanks |

Re: 2 piece speedometer cable
If I remember correctly there isn't one. The short cable that comes from the tranny should have a square hole in it, like the one on the drive gear, for the upper cable to slide into.
And welcome to the board!

Re: 2 piece speedometer cable
The end from the short cabe from the trans has been torn off. The new cable that i received from LMC has the same two ends as if it is a one piece cable. I got some info from a out of state dealer saying that an adaptor for different gear ratio was a option for that year, but he was not able to get me one?
Thanks for the info and welcoming me to the site. |

Re: 2 piece speedometer cable
Welcome to the Board from L.A. I had a problem with my two-piece speedo cable. The short end broke and I needed a replacement. Not one Chevy dealer in my area even knew what I was talking about, let alone had the part. As I was leaving the Chevy dealer in Pasadena, I saw a GMC truck dealer down the street. I stopped into their parts department and problem solved. If you have a GMC dealer in your area, give them a shot.

Re: 2 piece speedometer cable
Pool Guy: There was no connector between the two pieces. The longer piece and the shorter piece connected right into each other. It was a five minute job.

Re: 2 piece speedometer cable
Hi,
got the lower cable today and it does not go into the upper cable. all ends are female. nothing to screw into??? Auto zone had a crapy picture of the connector but no listing. It looks like a block. the upper cable goes on top and the lower goes on the bottem + it looks like it is held in place with a bracket just below the drivers side inner fender near the firewall. If that helps anyone let me know Thanks |

Re: 2 piece speedometer cable
My 82 had a 2 piece speedo cable, however there was a box between the 2 cables for the cruise control. My box went bad so I replaced the whole thing with a 1 piece cable.
I am not sure if this is of any help to you.. This is the only time I was aware that they came with 2 piece cables...
