Wheel and tire sizing question

I have a 73 cheyenne super 10, I have decided to keep my stock old rusty 15's
Can anyone tell me what width the stock 15's are?
Also i want to put a good sized all terain tire on there...any suggestions on what size works best for the stock 5 bolt rims?
I was thinking of the General Grabber AT2, any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help

Re: Wheel and tire sizing question

It would have had an equivalent of a 235/75R15. If you are wanting to keep the stock theme of your truck, a set of Rallys cleaned up would look pretty good on there. I think your stock wheels are either 15x6 or 15x7, not real wide for any all terrain tires.

15x8's were real common on the trucks too.

Re: Wheel and tire sizing question

They are square holed rally wheels, right? I believe that all original rally wheels have a stamp on the inside. It should tell you what size they are. I would say probably 8"s. Possibly 7"s, gm didn't make a 6" as far as I know. But they did put a 6.5" on vans. If you have to measure them: an 8" rally wheel measures 9" from edge to edge.

Re: Wheel and tire sizing question

I'm not even sure they are rally wheels, pretty sure they are whatever came stock on the 73 year model.

Re: Wheel and tire sizing question

Post up some pics of them. If they are rusty nothing a good cleaning, and some spray paint won't fix. It will make a huge difference.

Re: Wheel and tire sizing question

here's a link to some pictures.... of the truck in general. It's still at the engine rebuilders at the moment so I can't run out and snap a few pics till I get it back.

15x6, I'll bet. The whitewalls give it away.
