AD bear claw latches
Has anyone put in bear claw latches in an AD truck. Mine is a 1950 GMC. Did you like the results? Did anyone put in the power locks with them? What brand did you use? Was the original door handles converted to use or were the door poppers used? Auto loc has the kit plus a power kit to put in them, was wondering if anyone used these?

or http://www.chuckthetruck.com/page23.html or http://www.roddingroundtable.com/tec...bearclaw1.html The search feature can be your friend. There are several threads on this subject throughout this site. The F100 one might be applicable to your pull down handles. I recall seeing where someone had adapted these to that handle style. Can't find it right now though. Last edited by Houston54; 08-28-2009 at 02:25 PM. |

Re: AD bear claw latches
Bringing this back up as I'm knee deep into it.
Anyone do this with turn down handles yet? I'm going to try, and if it doesn't work I'll switch to pushbutton handles. Do the pushbutton handles have a built-in exterior lock? I only have my 49's turn down style for reference. Houston54, how did you get the latches to lock from the inside? I believe from dissecting my 49's latches, that by pushing forward on the interior handle it moves a piece in the latch to "capture" it and keep it from operating. I'm not sure how you retained this with the bear claw. What does everyone use to attach handles...baby heim joints vs. rods and door rod clips? As for spacing the latches out away from the windshield channel, I first cut out a rectangle where the original latch was in the door. I basically made some slices and extended out the original "bump out" another 1/4" or so, which left plenty of room for the latch and the window channel. What was more difficult than this, is placing the latch so the release mechanism had clearance from the inside edge of the windshield channel. I'll post up some pics of mine tonight...but any additional insight is greatly appreciated. 53lochevy's post: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=313631
