1962 c20

i have a 1962 c20 with a 2006 vortec 5.3l v8 the problem im having is the power steering fluid gets boiling hot when i drive on the freeway it has a new pump new new control valve new ram and a power steering cooler i just installed the cooler and it still gets hot does any one out there know whats up with this

It sounds like you have the original style power assist steering, is this correct? It sounds to me like the pump is under pressure all the time and it shouldn't be. I'm not an expert, but If you do have the assist steering, I think there may be an adjustment in the control valve. If you have trouble finding adjustment info, try looking for the info for a pre '76(?) Vette. They share the same steering setup.
