Could my spindles work out for me?

I replaced the whole front suspension on my 68 swb with a suspension out of a 80s truck. Now I want to lower it so I came across some drop spindles from 67-72. I know for a fact the the tie rod is too large in diameter to go in the spindle so that will have to be replaced. What else would have to be replaced? I havent taken the spindles off to try the bj's on spindles.

Re: Could my spindles work out for me?

It might be cheaper, in the long run, to use the correct spindle.
If your drop spindle doesn't fit your '73-87 style front end,... it must be made for the 63-70 trucks.
This will require you to change both balljoints and the outer tie-rods. I'm pretty sure the older outers won't connect to the later inners unless you use a conversion tie rod sleeve.
Just trying to warn you about what you are up against.

Re: Could my spindles work out for me?

Both of you are in the right direction with this. I am putting 79 spindles on 67 arms, so I have already researched all of this just haven't done it yet.. You will need the ball joints that match the spindle as well as the tie rod ends like lolife99 said. Also, the conversion tie rod sleeves are available from CPP.

Here's a link to the sleeves on cpp
