What did you get done? Labor Day edition
I didn't have any big plans for the weekend. It was the first time I had off with not much to do in a while. I decided to get caught up on a few yard chores, then work on my trucks. I put a new set of shocks on my 06 Silverado trying to prepare it for the market. It did help smooth the ride out a lot.
I hadn't unloaded my 77 from it's trip to RPL Customs to have the suspension upgrade. I decided to unload all the boxes and sort through them. I condensed the old stock parts in one box, and put the left over air suspension parts in another box. That left a little time for a small project on the 77. I had been told that adding a short piece of hose to remote mount the filter on my ViaAir compressor would make it quieter. I dug through my box of fitting and found what I needed. I used an existing hole on the rear crossmember to mount the filter to. It turned out great, but I didn't really notice a big drop in the db level. Yes, it is quieter, but not as much as I would like. While i was under there I decided to peel the old Air Ride Technologies sticker off of my air tank and add the new Ridetech logo. Of course I had to put a fresh coat of paint on it first. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
Today I did a few chores around the house, then decided to see what I could do to fix my exhaust system. When the Ridetech Airbar was installed, there was no place for the exhaust to fit over the axle. I was left with a rather ragged sounding system that really needed some attention.
Since it was all ceramic coated, I had hoped that I might be able to cut the exhaust pipe down a little and save some of what I had. That was not to be. I cut it in half, and it wouldn't come close to fitting. I played with it for quiet a while before I determined my only option was to create a small turn down. If I cut it just right and rotated the mounting flange it would turn the exhaust down and out. Not what I wanted, but it might be better than what I had. I put it all together and fired it up. I have to admit it is much better than what it was. The tip angles the exit enough to get the sound out from under the truck so it doesn't reverberate much at all. Eventually I will have to replace the muffler since it is rusting from the inside out. It's not what I wanted, but it will work for now.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
I actually worked on the truck today with my daughter. Made some good progress too. Worked Yesterday, and have to work tomorrow too. But hoping I can get off early enough to come home and button up the truck.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
She loves working in the garage with me. And anytime I bring out the camera, she grabs hers (our old digi) and takes random pictures too. When her & I were tearing down the clip, she unbolted and pulled off a section of tranny line all on her own. Not bad for 3 1/2. Of course, she has had the chance to grow up around cars.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
Not much truck related.
I washed the TransAm & purchased some .250" plate for my front bumper brackets. I'm making brackets that will allow bolting a 64 front frame horn/bumper to a 68 frame. Still have a couple of loose ends on the rear of the 64/68 chassis but I'm waiting on parts to finalize brackets & placement of the gas tank. Porter said my rear stuff should be done soon . . .... tap, tap, tap, tap (fingers on the table). I strongly dislike waiting but his stuff is worth waiting for . I did more research on swapping an aluminum radiator & installing electric fans. Still waiting on hearing from a couple of board members via PM's to get some dimensions so I can move forward. Looks like I also scored some brackets I've been trying to ID & find: 67-72 sbc pwr steer, alt brackets. I possibly found some a/c brackets as well. I'm changing the look N2Truxs' old 350 was going to have since it's no longer going in my 68Beater. It will have a more retro flavor....

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
Took the wheels off and laid the truck to rest on jack stands. Weather changes quick from summer to fall quickly in the northwest.
My plans are to tear further into the suspension. I really want to bag it but just need to come up with some more funding over the months. Oh well, It will be back on the road in 9 months.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
Started cleaning/organizing my garage. Nothing can destroy an organized garage like a major 2 month project. My S-10 has been outside under a car cover while the Heap occupied the garage. Took off the cover, cleaned her up, charged the battery and went for a 10 mile cruise. I had forgotten how much I enjoy driving a stroked small block powered S-10.
Watch my 16 year old daughter grin from ear to ear as she washed and cleaned her first car.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
signed more home loan paperwork, then drove 60 miles to eat a burrito at an awesome mexican fast food place. of course the wife had to go clothes shopping with the daughter. i think we both drank way to much last night, i guess i can endure hangovers better than the misses. i was still up first and doing thins around the house. gonna take my cousin for a ride in the truck before he deploys to some ****ty country.

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
didnt do much this weekend but during the week got the truck almost ready for a sticker. brakes are done and working, made new tail light brackets out of an aluminum running board for 4" round lights, changed the leaky valve cover gaskets and painted the valve covers and air cleaner, and figured out my battery mount. now all I need is a battery, 2 tail lights, a running light, and windshield wipers

Re: What did you get done? Labor Day edition
I did something very simple,
I changed the secondary jets in the carb. I went from a .101 to a .092 size cause she was running a little fat at WOT. Before the change she was running anywhere from 11.8 afr right before shifting to 12.2 afr mid full throttle pull. I also reset the float levels. I can say, it feels different.
