Re: 67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I tell you what this looks like a great tank for the money. We have custom tanks made for us but this is one heck of a deal. It costs us $150 for the minimum 10 gal and $15.00 a gallon after that. Thats our cost. Of course our supplier builds boats so he charges more Great product.

This could save me a bunch of heartburn...can you do these as an EFI tank? With the in tank pump and plumbed for a return line?

How low does it hang below the frame rails?

Do the tanks include internal baffling?

judging from the pics it doesn't look like it hangs down any.

I thought I put that in the description, I just looked back and realized I didn't. Yes these tanks will be baffled to prevent slosh. If you order an EFI tank it will have extra baffles around the pump to help keep the pump wet. Foam is an option also, Usually its about 80.00 more.

Judging from the pic, it looks like it hanges down 10"s or better.

If that's the case and it does hang that low, would be good to fore-warn the off-road customers of this dimension.

Good to know but it's not looks I'd be after, it's all about function.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

On a serious note and I don't want to hold you to anything, but for custom designed, what price range are we looking at for say one designed to go behind the axle for an AD model truck or a saddletank type for the same year? Rough estimate range is more than OK.

it will depend on the dimensions and unique features of the tank. a good way to ballpark is $10/gallon but that is only accurate for some tanks for instance. my 50 gallon transfer tank is 575.00 which is pretty close to 10/ gallon but this 67-72 gallon tank is only 19 and its $349.00

if i were to ball park a 28 gallon rectangle tank this is what i would tell you. "you would be looking around 250.00 - 550.00 depending on your dimensions."

However, please do not assume. Always give me the opportunity to give you a quote i almost always do it right on the phone with you. The word custom does not always mean a thousand dollars.

i could go all day long but it will just get boring so
hope that answers your question. if not let me know what needs clarification.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I'll be in the market for a custom tank sometime in the next 2 years (waiting for a court settlement to get play money and they are stalling cause ethey know they are going to loose) ...

Would the tank you show above be deliverable as a custom with the filler going towards the back so it can be be st up for a "behind the tag" fill location (like the old muscle cars had?)
