Chevy rear leafs 65-66
Hi all.....
My 65 2wd has the typical trailign arm/coil suspension.... my parts 66 Chev 2wd has leafs..... works out for me because I will be swapping to leafs and will use the front mount..... This seems a little odd to me, they are both 2wd 1/2 ton lwb fleets, I do not recall seeing many with rear leafs? Thoughts??? |

Are you sure that 66 isn't a GMC?

Re: Chevy rear leafs 65-66
you could special order either chevs or gmcs with coils(gmc),or leafs(chevy).
I have seen a 1 of each, this was in a wrecking yard that has 40+ 60-66 chev&gmc's |

Re: Chevy rear leafs 65-66
I stopped to look at a 65 or 66 chevy with a for sale sign on it about a year ago. Most of the wood was missing in the bed and I noticed that it had leafs.

Re: Chevy rear leafs 65-66
I've read somewhere that Chevys came with coils stock and leaf springs were and option. GMC came stock with leafs but coils were an option for a smoother ride. If that helps.

Re: Chevy rear leafs 65-66
Just curious as to why you would want to convert to Leafs?

Re: Chevy rear leafs 65-66
Ya that makes sense, I saved the C20 rear, springs, and all frame mount hardware just in case I get the 4WD bug.

Re: Chevy rear leafs 65-66
Looks like the measurements will allow me to use the stock front leaf mount moved forward and a shackle flip bracket in the rear for 52" springs!!! Yay!!
Of course I will be saving all of the 2wd gear for the next project Thanks all! |
