My finds for the %50 off day @ the junker!!

Last weekend was 50% off day so I decided why not go take a look, boy am I glad I did. I found this a/c unit in a 65 GMC. This thing had to have every option. Someone had destroyed the auto column to get a few pieces so it was a real bummer. The power brake plate was already gone along with the power steering setup.

I also was inclined to take the auto tranny adapter plate and flexplate. That is the oddest type I have ever seen.

Re: My finds for the %50 off day @ the junker!!

The cab had the cut outs for the a/c along with a bbw, so I asked the price. It was well worth the time to take the cab home. It has a little surface rust but is other wise in good shape.

It looks like I can just make a template for the a/c cut outs rather than switching the cabs. Not trying to brag just thought I would share and show that you can still find great things out there.

It sure pays to get out there and keep looking. I've never even seen the a/c stuff in a GMC before. Good for you.

I thought GMC trucks didnt even have this as an option. I think Im missing the vents that are under the dash. The controls were also under the dash on a piece of angle iron. Weird huh?

Yeah I can do that. The mounts will be for a 305 V6 not a sbc.

Joe and Gang,

I too have a factory A/C for my V-6. However, I'm not sure I'm going to use it because it sits almost on top of the motor and have taken apart all the brackets and sandblasted. What I need is a good shop that can replicate them 4 brackets and all with a V-6 will be good to go. You can see pictures of the OEM set up at Web Shots.

Man what a score!

I've been to a couple of junkyards (ok- pick a parts) down here looking for a 64-66 cab- but no luck. I need the front half for my Carryall.

btw- any advice on how to locate one would be greatly appreciated.

When was half price day? I need some stuff and also did you get it at pick and pull. for some reason they don't post them on the web site anymore. It seems you have to go often to know abou it. Maybe next time you know about it you can let us know. Good finds though.

It was Labor day weekend. I found it on their website. It even said all location. It was pretty much a worthless trip for me they don't have a single truck from 60-66 ! I wish I still lived in California !

I thought it is kinda pointless to post a local thing on a web site that covers the country. I will definately post any future 50% days from now on. All I can recomend as far as finding parts is to check often. All the spots here in town are right off of the freeway, so its pretty quick to check them all out. That really sucks about you needing a roof. They just crushed 3 very straight cabs. One was even a big back window. Oh well, such is life in the big city.
